Teaching
We noticed the encouragement it is that God can reveal His glory to idolatrous nations. He did it in Egypt; He can do it whenever He wants.
There is a challenge in this. To need an encouragement about this assumes one has a concern for the glory of God among the nations. How many of us are troubled by the amount of glory and praise being given to false gods and demons every day all over the world? It challenges a modern doctrine that all people on earth should worship as they see fit and as makes them happy. However:
30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”
As we grow into a burden for the glory of the Lord among the nations this text is a greater and greater encouragement. Especially as we live in a world where so many reject Christ and many openly mock Him. The Lord has, can, and will manifest His glory to nations, whether in salvation or judgement. He will not ultimately be denied the honour, glory, and praise He is due.
