Sin Takes
Proverbs 5:7-14

9 lest you give your honor to others and your years to the merciless, 10 lest strangers take their fill of your strength, and your labors go to the house of a foreigner,
We lingered this morning over the idea that sin doesn’t give us good things, as it promises to. It takes from us. It takes away the good that we have, by twisting our hearts and corrupting us. If we let it. It is tempting to say that sin doesn’t give us what we want. This is true. But sin does give us something - misery.
I exhorted the children not to allow sin to take from them, not to be tricked by the initial attraction of the temptation. Then we ran through a couple of catechism questions. We happen to be up to the estate into which the fall brought humanity… sin and misery (Q.17).
