Investigators: Resurrection #1 (again)

1 Corinthians 15:14-19
Investigators: Resurrection #1 (again)
Several years ago, I made one of the best parenting decisions I have ever made: to combine our breakfasts and dinners with devotion, teaching, singing, and prayer. These are the voyages, the captain’s logs, of these merry meetings, which form our family’s faith, one meal at a time.

Captain's Log: Table Time ~ Monday, August 17th, 2025 ~ Vespers

14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain... 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.

We ran through our first installment of Investigations: Resurrection, again tonight. It reminded me that children do very well when they get to return to content a second and third time. I’m tempted to put new things in front of them all the time. But coming at things multiple times and from different angles really benefits them.

The first night, they were engaged and learning some new definitions. But tonight they were answering the questions, remembering key points, elaborating, putting things into their own words. And they are more in command of this topic (the stolen body objection to the resurrection) having been over it a second time. I plan to do Lucy Nation next week, and I’ll be making sure to go over it twice.
