God Is Near
Psalm 139

O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
3 You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
4 Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
5 You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
Passage
Psalm 139 - You Are Always With Me
Conditions
Another hallway night, since we had family over for an early Christmas dinner.
Time
We took only a few minutes to read, reflect, and pray.
Teaching
I chose Psalm 139 because it had been a bit of a hectic day. Multiple people had sinned, some had been disciplined. There was some anxiousness over food and presents. It seemed good to me to put before us that the Lord is always with us. This is a comfort in our moments of anxiety and feelings of missing out on what we need - the Most Needful is always near to us. It is also a challenge to our behaving as though no one is taking account of our actions.
The end of the Psalm is altogether good for sinful saints at the end of a difficult day:
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
