About Ploddingham
Ploddingham is a humble province where I offer up small, stubborn, imperfect faithfulness in the realms of marriage and parenting as an encouragement and resource to those on a similar quest.
The double insight that powers Ploddingham is this:
(1) Marriage and family are the greatest tasks most of us have been called to, and opportunities far greater than has been taught to us in recent years.
(2) Contrary to the spirit of our age, it is slow, often unimpressive, incremental faithfulness that the Lord requires and blesses–we can accomplish much if we do less than we tend to aim for in theory, but more consistently than we tend to deliver in practice.
In Ploddingham, we’ll probably do a little less today, but we’ll do it every single day.
In other words, in Ploddingham it is believed that our ambition should lie in how long we spend doing the right things. The lamps burn over long, not over bright in Ploddingham. I believe this is good news, because it means ordinary people can make progress in extraordinary things.
You may find Ploddingham as a place worth visiting for the following reasons:
(1) You want to practice spiritual disciplines with your children daily, despite the challenges.
(2) You are looking to the past more than to the present for Christian instruction and culture.
(3) You are looking to tradition and worship for Christian formation more so than invention and activism.
I pray that a star shines upon our meeting.
Yours truly,
Dan Conway
